On the 21st of October 2005 The Department of purchase and delivery of ships, marine armament and defense technology of Department of Defense of Russian Federation signed the contract with JSC Shipbuilding plant «Severnaya verf» for building lead frigate of the 22350 design. The keel laying of the ship is to be on the February, 2006, the delivery in 2009.

The placement of order for building the lead frigate fro Russian Navy on JSC Shipbuilding plant «Severnaya verf» is the result of the tender, which took place in 2005 and was arranged by The Department of purchasing and delivery of ships, marine armament and defense technology of Department of Defense of Russian Federation. Defining the winner, the economic component of «Severnaya verf» as well as the existence experience of building such ships and necessary production capabilities.
